Rose, my elder sister finished form 3 in St. Joseph’s Miri in 1958 and went on to St. Teresa’s School in Kuching to finish her secondary education. She was a boarder there for 4 years. After form 6, in 1962 Rose won a Colombo Plan scholarship to continue study in New England University, N.S.W. for a B.A. degree. She majored in English literature, graduated and then did a one year diploma in Education. Rose returned to serve her country as a teacher for over 30 years. She has now retired and lives in Kuching among her many friends, ex-students, bonsais and mongrel dogs!
